Matthew 25 Weekly Update 17/05/20

This week has seen some exciting developments at the Matthew25 base.

We have been granted permission from the diocese to convert the former boiler room at the side of Christchurch. We’ve cleared the area this week and new electrics and water supply will be installed soon. During the pandemic, the area will be used to store food in some newly donated freezers, and then when life begins to get back to normal, the goal is to use the space as a laundry and shower room. This will allow us to have another area to bless the community.

We are also investing some of our reserves into installing some updated kitchen equipment at Brodie Hall. This includes reworking the kitchen area to install a professional extractor fan and new washing up areas. It’s an exciting time and we’re looking forward to sharing the finished results with you!

Our friends at the Poppy Seed Bakery have this week given us 2 large catering freezers. This has been such a blessing to us, as we are currently storing many of the meals provided by UKHarvest.

They have also been important in our battle to reduce food waste as we now have more room to store any spare meals we prepare.

We receive many donations each week from individuals, companies, churches and organisation. These are both gifts of food, hyenine products, clothes and sleeping bags, and also monetary donations, as well as people praying for us. We want to thank each and every one of you for your support. It is great to be on this journey together, with you all.

Thanks to M&S for their daily deliveries, and also to, Suncoast Church, St John’s Church and The Lions Club, who have made some generous donations recently.

"Whatever you did for the least of these you did for me"
